Case StudyWarehouse Robotics Safety
About This Project

Our client, a fortune 100 company with a large footprint in fulfillment, was building a fleet of semi-autonomous warehouse robots. With human interaction a core part of the design, safety was a top priority. Full Spectrum developed software leveraging off-the-shelf short-range depth cameras to detect objects with millimeter accuracy. Employing computer vision, the robots were able to detect people and obstacles, ensuring a safe and efficient operating environment.

- Approach & Solution
- Outcomes
• Integrate with an off-the-shelf stereo camera to employ computer vision for object and depth detection
• Leverage data from the imaging system for decision making in a semi- autonomous robot
• Keep up with tight timelines while maintaining safety as the top priority
• Full Spectrum embedded engineers onsite with the client’s team to rapidly iterate and test solutions in a lab environment
• The team took the computer vision concept from the prototype stage to production- ready in concert with other client teams working on parallel efforts
• The design spearheaded by the Full Spectrum team became a core component of the safety system
• The team was able to demonstrate the value of the design to senior leaders who greenlit additional development around the solution
