Case StudyMulti-Channel Infusion Pump
About This Project

Full Spectrum teamed with a company developing a new multi-channel Infusion Pump. The program was a government funded, dual-phase engagement that begins with development, build, and verification of a proof-of-concept (POC) prototype. Successful demonstration of POC functionality and performance to be followed by a full development and commercialization effort, under design control, and submitted for FDA approval.

- Approach & Solution
- Outcomes
• The government placed additional demands on top of clinical infusion pump functionality, requiring support for field to transport to hospital operating environments and a small form factor.
• Government requirements introduced UX/UI and other design challenges.
• Client was Excel-based and did not use specialized software to efficiently manage software or risk.
• Client did not have software development experience to gauge scope of efforts.
• Drove frequent inter-organization collaboration, resembling joint development more than sub- contract arrangement.
• Iterated on system workflows in different care areas and environments to define optimal UX/UI.
• Continuously managed scope for planned prototype software releases, prioritizing and balancing risk and feature set.
• Applied Agile methodology, planning and conducting sprints using modern tools.
• Delivered an Alpha prototype software release in a timely manner enabling client to perform verification on critical areas of design (i.e. pump accuracy and electro-mechanical assembly tests).
• Successfully delivered subsequent Beta software release enabling client to integrate and perform system level verification.
• Supported technical and program reviews with government
