Case StudyConnected Devices - Health Hub Appliance
About This Project

Full Spectrum was the software development partner for our client, collaborating with their Systems, Electrical and Mechanical engineers to develop the first release of a countertop medication-dispensing appliance that integrated with the client’s pharmacy automation systems.
- Challenges
- Approach & Solution
- Outcomes
• Client had trouble integrating off-the-shelf health devices with countertop appliance
• Client had already selected manufacturers of Bluetooth health devices with various degrees of compliance with Bluetooth standards
• Evaluated each of the proposed health devices for compatibility to the Bluetooth LE standards appropriate for the device type
• Reverse engineered the data exchange and worked with the manufacturers to better understand likely success paths to the implementation
• Software solution was a combination of common Bluetooth LE patterns with customizations to account for individual quirks of devices
• Software was updated to more reliably interact with a variety of health devices in the user’s home environment, reducing the likelihood of tech support calls from end users
• Technical documentation of incompatibilities to the Bluetooth standard allowed client to conduct more meaningful discussions with the manufacturers
• Client further engaged Full Spectrum to evolve the countertop appliance to a connected health hub
